Space Apps Challenge 2016
We are excited to announce that this year Copenhagen and ITU will host Space Apps for the first time ever. Space Apps is the biggest global hackathon in the world engaging thousands of citizens each year across the globe to work with NASA in designing innovative solutions to global challenges using open source data.
The event will take place at the IT University of Copenhagen and we are inviting all passionate technologists, scientists, designers, entrepreneurs and anyone with an interest to make an impact to join us throughout this creative journey to the moon and back. Teams will work together to develop answers to some of the most pressing challenges on earth and space using publicly available NASA data. NASA team has announced the challenges for this year, which are much broader in scope to also encourage non-technical audience to participate.
The event will start with a Bootcamp on Friday where participants will have the opportunity to learn, create and get inspired. The hackathon will start on Saturday morning and will finish on Sunday evening with the announcement of the local winners who will represent Denmark in the global competition. The global winners will be invited to attend a NASA launch event. Throughout the weekend invited speakers and experts will be presenting and interacting with participants to make this event even more amazing. The agenda and the awards for the local winners will be announced soon.
Registration is free but required through the official website here. The maximum number of participants is 200 on a first come fire served based, so make sure you register on time.
