Cloud Computing Demystified Day

Cloud computing is an emerging computing paradigm, which promises to be a major driver of business innovation by exploiting the technological advances of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). Many companies have started providing Cloud-enabled infrastructure and services and hundreds of others are considering entering in this foray.

A variety of challenges can arise when deploying and operating applications and services on a Cloud in dynamic and evolving environments. Gaining a good understanding of the challenges involved and potential strategies is necessary for forming a suitable strategy for building and deploying Cloud based IT solutions. Practitioners all over the World are exploring the opportunities and risks involved in adopting Cloud-enabled software services and infrastructures.

IT University of Copenhagen in collaboration with Alexandra Institute, CFIR (Copenhagen Finance IT Region) , and National IT & Telecom Agency will be organizing a one day industrial seminar on Cloud computing in order to bring the national and international practitioners together to discuss and share their concerns, experiences, challenges, and strategies for building, deploying, and evolving cloud based solutions. We believe that one way of getting a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities involved in adopting and using Cloud Computing is to provide practitioners a platforms to discuss and tease out some of the key issues such as:

  • Managing guaranteeing service level agreements (SLAs) of services by leveraging Cloud computing capacity;
  • Integrating collaborative services deployed on-premise and on different Clouds;
  • Handling exceptions of long-running transactions across loosely coupled services on Clouds;
  • Deploying business processes and monitor their runtime status; and
  • Designing and implementing solutions for security and privacy in Clouds and for Clouds.

This seminar aims to provide a platform to listen and meet national and international experts on the Cloud computing to discuss the challenges that companies can anticipate or face when developing, deploying, or using Cloud-aware software services and infrastructures and what can be potential solutions to those challenges.
