Guidelines for Final Hand-in
There will be two components to your final hand-in for this course: 1) Portfolio totaling 11 pages on the [Player] conference and the groupwork done over the course of the term and 2) Final 20 page research paper. Both components should be printed, bound, and submitted as one document (though note each section clearly). 3 copies are due at the exam office December 17 by 15:00. Remember: There is no oral exam for this course.
Portfolio (11 pages total)
Your portfolio must include:
- One page writeup from [Player] Conference.
- One 2 page write-up (11 or 12 point font, 1.5 linespace) for one the reading discussion sessions your group leads.
- Four 2 page write-ups (11 or 12 point font, 1.5 linespace) of the game analysis sessions.
Please remember: These must be unique write-ups. While your major points may certainly be shared with your team members you are expected to present your argument in your own words for these reflection pieces. You should follow the guidelines for the writeups provided on the groupwork info page.
Final research paper (20 pages total)
The final paper must be 20 pages long (11 or 12 point font, 1.5 linespace). It must be an individually written piece of work that takes up an issue covered within the topic domain of Advanced Game Theory. In addition to the body of your argument your paper must contain the following components:
- Thesis statement or research question:: You must provide, and underline, a clear succinct thesis sentence or research question that will provide the overall frame for the piece.
- Literature review:: Detailed overview situating your paper in relation to prior literature. You should aim for somewhere between 7-10 references total which will provide context, evidence, and theoretical perspectives on your subject. Note that I expect you to draw on high quality scholarly work (vs things like newspaper or magazine articles, random web publications, etc.). You must draw at least two of your pieces of literature from the compendium. You are strongly encouraged to look beyond game studies for relevant literature that may assist your claims and arguments.
- Bibliography:: You must provide a complete bibliography that adheres to a standard academic citation format (ASA, APA, Chicago, ACM, etc.). If you are unsure what such formats are you should Google the terms provided here and you will find a number of guides to assist you.
