**ECTS is the abbreviation of European Credit Transfer System, a system developed for the transfer of credit between higher educations. The system is used in both Danish and foreign educational institutions. It has been developed in the EU to describe the time and the academic content of the study periods and the separate elements that make up a higher education. ECTS points do not measure academic level or level of complexity, only work load.
