ITU Students Nominated for a British Oscar

Four students from the IT University of Copenhagen started to develop games together just for the fun of it. Now they are in competition for a “British Oscar” at BAFTA’s Video Game Award ceremony next year.

When the British Academy of Film and Television Art, BAFTA, will be celebrating Video Games with a glittering show in early 2012 four students from the IT University will be competing in the category Ones to Watch. The students who call themselves Digital Knights have developed the game Joust it Out, which won the contest Dare To Be Digital earlier this month in Scotland. Winning this competition means that they also get nominated for a BAFTA, also known as BAVGA (British Academy Video Games Awards), which is beyond everything the leader of the team, Roman Graebsch, ever hoped for.

- We never, ever thought we’d be here. The team got together for the fun of it, so it’s just amazing to be nominated for a BAFTA. It’s just such a great feeling to see people enjoying what you’ve created,” he says.
