Christmas 2004 I spent with my family in Copenhagen
Christmas (eve) morning the 24th I woke up to a winter-wonderland of snow and ice. This is the view from my parents' apartment.
They have a view of the park. At night, unfortunately, it had all melted...
Usually we decorate the Christmas tree on the evening of the 23rd, but we were too busy and this is how it looked in the afternoon, before I dug down after the old decoration.
But after and hour's work and some creativity it looked nice and I was the proud, efficient decorator.
My mom worked in the kitchen all day, cooking duck and potatoes. My contribution was marzipan chocolates.
Peter's room mate from Belgium joined us because he was not going home for Christmas. We usually have visitors because my parents are the most hospitable people in this world.
Drinking wine and having good food is tough work, but not too tough for a smile.
...Except for Peter who had only odd faces for my camera.
Tobias tried to win money on his Christmas calender, he won 20 kr.
My dad attempted to convince us that a 23 year old Hungarian wine was the perfect company to the dessert: Ris a l'amande.
He liked it opposite the rest of us who all found it too sour.
And my mom got the almond, although she had provided the present. But it is the first time that anyone can remember her getting it.
Tobias never gets the almond because he doesn't like ris a l'amande.
Mom is lighting the Christmas tree.
And I am very proud how it turned out. Isn't it pretty? Time to open presents.
My dad got a tiny car to match his big one.
Tobias got an ice crusher that all of us were very envious of (except it made a lot of noise).
And I got a wonderful sweater that my mom knitted for me.
I also got a wallet that Nadia thought was a bit creepy.
Nadia got a ring from her grandmother that made her seem really tough. But not tough enough to scare Ulrik.
Nadia also got a pair of shoes that my mom liked more than she!
The Christmas tree has wonderful glass balls that my family has collected through the years.
Guess why this one is my favorite...
"Pyntet smukt af en usynlig haand, staar nu trĉet der med lys og baand..."
Goodnight and thank you all for a wonderful evening. I am tired and got all the presents I wanted.
