I was in Copenhagen most of December 2003 and had a really good Christmas with my family and I saw a lot of good friends |
The first X-mas happening as I got home: my Mom invited all the kids (that would be me, my two brothers and Nadia, my oldest little brother's ex-girlfriend) for Sunday Brunch with 'ris a'la mande' and a lot of other good food.
Some of the first people I had to see when I got to Denmark was of course my very best friend Kat and my second best friend, her little adorable daughter.
They were doing fine and Emilie had gotten two teeth since I saw her last time. She was trying to chew on everything and babbling a lot, saying `nejnejnejnej', which her Mom was not very fond of...
On the 23rd we got a tree and I was selected as the decorator. I had a little fight with it, because it was very crocked when we got it, but after a lot of convincing words, and a bit of pulling, it finally agreed to point straight up instead of to the side.
Traditionally a star goes on top of a Danish Christmas tree but because we couldn't find one among all the decoration, the even more traditional, but now out-dated, Angle went in the top.
Dinner on the 24th is almost ready and my Mom, the proud chef checks out my decorated table (she only let me cook one little part of the meal, which I think most of the family was very happy with).
Finally the tree was finished with all the candles and some glass decoration that I had brought with me from California, among others half an Orange! Can you find it?
Christmas dinner, where Peter got the almond as usual.
After dinner we light the candles.
Finally, presents are unwrapped, candles almost burned down, everyone pretty much happy with what they got...
My cute little brother (who is way taller than I), a couple of days later at another Christmas thing.
Me, desperately trying to figure out how to change my plane ticket, get a new visa and get back to the States now that the postoffice had declared my passport officially lost/stolen. Can you see the desperation in my eyes? But I can say that there was a happy ending, I went back to California January 9th, a week later than planned.
