Monday 6 november I participated in a meeting arranged by Crossroads Copenhagen about the current status and future possibilities of Location Based Services (LBS). BLIP Systems informed about the current technological possibilities and challenges and N’volve gave examples of a range of LBS applications / services (see e.g. www.mob-site.com) and introduced some commercial aspects of LBS. For all INC-projects interested in LBS this meeting was very fruitfullfor a number of reasons. A) It gave a state-of-the-art of current technological possibilities (everything Bluetooth based) and also some demographical information of the number of Bluetooth enabled phones in Denmark and some usage profiles of Bluetooth. B) It gave a lot of interesting contacts including LBS technical platform providers, LBS application providers, LBS users and organisations wanting to apply LBS in different areas. The last group is interesting as case-providers for those of our students wanting to do their master thesis with a specific company. Among the participants were Dansk Cyklistforbund (The Danish Bicycle Association), Danmarks Turistråd, Wyeth Danmark (a pharmaceutical firm), and Copenhagen Zoo.
