John Maeda Art Installation at ITU (1)

The atrium in the IT building is decorated by the US-artist and MIT professor John Maeda. The art installations named “ITU Interactive Light Walls” consists of 4 green panels on the east side and 3 red panels on the west side. The seven displays all works independently and may be controlled from the internet. John Maeda has presented two pieces on the panels ”Dial-An-Art” and ”Two-Chat”. Later, other digital artists will be able to perform other pieces on the panels.
Henning Larsen A/S designed the panels.

The picture shows how the “Two-Chat” art installation by John Maeda looks in the evening. The text may be seen as reflections in unpredictable places since the large amounts of glass inside the building reflects well in darkness. And we have plenty of darkness in Denmark during the winter season.

John Maeda describes this work: ”The user is presented with a series of dialog boxes for two or three voices. Either alone or with friends, the user inputs text to simulate a verbal exchange. The resulting conversation appears on the display.”
