Towards Formal Models for Trust in Global Computing

Traditional security mechanisms have severe limitations in Global Computing (GC) scenarios. One of the alternatives proposed is Trust Management Systems, in which safety critical decisions are made based on trust information. The overall idea is to transfer aspects of trust as a well-known concept in human behaviour to the GC setting. In this talk we report on some recent work towards formal models for such systems, focusing on models for trust, its formation, evolution and propagation.
