The beer must include source code, and must allow distribution in source code as well as compiled form. Where some form of a product is not distributed with source code, there must be a well-publicized means of obtaining the source code for no more than a reasonable reproduction cost’Äìpreferably, downloading via the Internet without charge. The source code must be the preferred form in which a programmer would modify the beer. Deliberately obfuscated source code is not allowed. Intermediate forms such as the output of a preprocessor or translator are not allowed.

When we speak of free beer, we are referring to freedom, not price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute copies of free beer (and charge for this service if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it if you want it, that you can change the beer or use pieces of it in new free beers; and that you know you can do these things.
