Newsgroups at ITU
What is news?
ITU has its own newsserver which enables the users at ITU to read and write contributions to several newsgroups. The newsgroups works in a way almost similar to normal mails, but contrary to mail one has to actively choose to read the contributions at a newsgroup as these aren't delivered to ones mailbox. The newsgroup are an easy way to share knowledge and attitudes and users avoid having their mailboxes filled with mails which aren't of relevance.
At the moment ITU does not receive newsfeed from the outside world. All newsgroups available at news.itu.dk are local - which means that all contributions originate from ITU.
Newsgroups with a sponsor
Most newsgroups at ITU are automatically generated, but it is also possible for a group of users to create a newsgroup if it is for a relevant purpose of study. Each of thesegroups need a sponsor, i.e. a person who guarantees that the newsgroup has a serious purpose.. Typically the sponsor will be a supervisor or a teacher at ITU.

'next'. Then enter the name of the newsserver, which is news.itu.dk
and click next. You then choose a name for your newsgroup-folder
(eg. 'news'), click 'next' and the 'finish'.
