English abstract

This thesis is a theoretical and practical study in the field of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), which claims that time is an essential and overlooked element in this area.

The thesis will explore how the aspect of time becomes central when a cooperative work arrangement, a production group for example, wants to schedule, which is an important activity within articulation work.

The main focus of the thesis will be to examine the time aspect with the purpose of computer-basing a coordination mechanism for the handling of manning control and planning in a production group. These conclusions are founded on empirical studies of a cooperative work arrangement.

Furthermore the thesis contributes to the understanding of how the aspect of time can be expressed and concieved by making use of object oriented modeling.
