Welcome to the home page of the course Java on Mobile Devices (JMA/JPMA). You may find the official course description here. The course is on Tuesdays, practical exercises are from 15:00 - 17:00 (MSc students) and from 19:00 - 21:00 (Open University) in rooms 3A.52 and 3A.54, lectures begin at 17:00 (sharp) in Auditorium 3.

  • April 11: Uploaded third mandatory assignment. I forgot my decision to do it friday, sorry...
  • April 7: Uploaded slides from last lecture as well as code produced during the lecture.
  • March 30: Corrected mandatory assignment #2. Functions now have return type int.
  • March 29: Uploaded mandatory assignment #2.
  • March 15: Updated Lecture 7.
  • March 8: Put Thomas Bodin's slides from Lecture 5 up (see under Lecture 5). Updated Lecture Plan and Lecture 6 with slides. Put in dates for mandatory assignments.
  • March 7: Updated Lecture 6.
  • March 1: Updated the lecture plan.
  • February 22: Uploaded mandatory assignment and updated readings for Lecture 4. If you are having trouble with the mandatory assignment, try using the newsgroup! :)
  • February 21: Updated the lecture plan regarding lectures 4 and 5. Created "Mandatory Assignments" menu to the left. Remember that you can hand in exercises to the TA's for comments every week.
  • February 13: Updated Lecture 3 with slides and exercises - do the exercises because they might be used as basis for the first mandatory assignment, which will be announced on February 22. We have a new TA Oliver Morrison - welcome on board!
  • February 12: Added link to Anders Bo's Eclipse setup guide. Remember that you can copy the material from the JMA box outside 1C, but please do put the "original" back afterwards.
  • February 8: Slides for Lecture 2 and homework available.
  • February 7: Updated Lecture 2, added link to WTK 2.2.
  • February 4: Updated information about projects.
  • February 3:
    • You may now find a paper copy of the hardcopy reading material for Lecture 1 on the shelf marked "JAVA ON MOBILE DEVICES" opposite from the door into 1C. If you wish you can make a copy of this for yourself, but please remember to put the "original" back.
    • Remember that you are expected to try to solve the exercises at home before attending the exercise sessions on Tuesdays.
    • A few words on the examination can be found in the menu to the left (Examination).
    • Information regarding (16-week) projects is now available from the menu to the left (Projects).
    • A few more links added.
  • February 2: Updated the Literature page with links to Eclipse 3.0/ME, a J2ME discussion forum, and JTGL.
  • February 1: Slides, reading and exercises for Lecture 1 are available.
  • January 20: First version of the home page. The course begins on February 1, at 17:00 in Auditorium 3. Note that there are no exercise sessions during the first week.

Purpose of this website

This website is the primary channel of communication from teachers to course participants. All you need to know (except perhaps administrative matters) about the course should be on these web pages, which we will update frequently as the course progresses. We recommend (and expect) course participants to check it regularly.

Newsgroups

For discussions regarding the course content we use the newsgroup it-c.courses.JMA (subscription guide), which will be read frequently by the teaching assistants and as often as possible by the teachers. It is also relevant to subscribe to the Mobility Lab newsgroup: it-c.courses.mobilitylab.
