Fra Christina har jeg modtaget henvisning til følgende meddelelse:
Dear correspondent,
Your readers, particularly those responsible for building and managing
web sites, should be interested in 'eEurope 2002: Accessibility of Public
Web Sites and their Content' - a Communication adopted by the European
Commission last week.
The aim is
to make Web sites more accessible to people with disabilities and older
people. By adopting the Communication, the Commission is supporting the
European Institutions and Member States in adopting and implementing a
set of Web Accessibility Guidelines. These were created by the World Wide
Web Consortium / Web Accessibility Initiative, with the support of organisations
around the world, including the European Commission research programmes.
The use of
these guidelines in public websites is already a legal requirement in
some countries around the world, so they are becoming critical knowledge
for those responsible for websites everywhere.
More information
can be found at: http://www.europa.eu.int/information_society/accessibility/
This site provides the press release and the Communication in English,
French and German, as well as other supporting material, and uses its
own content to demonstrate some accessibility problems.
We hope you find this information useful.
Yours sincerely,
Press Team
