Wanna play?

This is your chance to be on the cutting edge of the creative side of the gaming industry – and to get to play some computer games. Play Day is here!

The IT University of Copenhagen invites everyone to come play the latest computer games made by students at the university. Play day takes place on Friday the 28th of May. From 14.00 to 15.00 the university has made room especially for the press to try out the games and from 15.00 and onwards everyone can play. The celebration continues with a party.

- First and foremost, this is a celebration for the students. We want to recognize the hard work they do making games for their courses and showcase the games they've made throughout the year. We have a strong games education, and we want to show it to the world, says Miguel Sicart, who is head of the Media Technology and Games Programme at the IT University, and goes on:

- Play Day is pretty much our take on the exit exhibitions at art schools. It’s an opportunity to get people from outside the university to see what we do on a day to day basis, and to celebrate those who made these games.

12 games and a bunch of students
On Friday, The IT University’s game lab and atrium will be filled with playable stuff. Also, there is going to be around 12 games, and more than 50 students. The games were all made for the courses on The IT University.

- There are many interesting games, but probably the one that is most known is “Kill Me”, a Flash game that was picked up by the influential Indie Games weblog. There are also a bunch of very interesting games made for the game development course, like "Little Lisa" or "Don't Look Now". Basically, if you’re into games, they’re all very interesting, says Miguel Sicart.

The event is sponsored by the Danish chapter of the International Game Developers Association, (IGDA.dk).

Everyone is welcome at Play Day.
