Nice to know about Denmark

Ticking at around 43.000 square kilometres Denmark is one of the smaller countries in the European Union. In comparison, neighbours Sweden and Germany are respectively ten times and nine times the size of Denmark. Denmark’s population is 5, 5 million people and the capital Copenhagen is inhabited by more than a million people.

Denmark has one of the oldest monarchies in the world ruled by Queen Margrethe the 2nd. Rules and regulations are made in the Danish parliament Folketinget. Want to learn more facts about Denmark, visit

Weather
Denmark is situated in Northern Europe. The winters are usually wet, perhaps with a little snow. The winter temperature varies from -5 to +10 ̊C. In the springtime and summer, Denmark is green and beautiful with temperatures from +15 to +30 ̊C. Be aware that there’s always a chance of rain no matter the season!

If you’re staying for a year or more, you should bring both heavy boots, scarves, gloves and warm clothes for the cold months like November, December, January, February and March. And bring light spring and summer clothes for the rest of the year.

You can check out the weather in Denmark at the Danish Meteorological Institute’s website

Transportation
Almost all Danes have a bike and use it on a daily basis. Bikes are the preferred means of transport for students in Copenhagen, and the special made paths for cyclists, makes it both easy and cheap to get around.

The public transportation system in Copenhagen is extensive and well-run. In Copenhagen the busses, s-trains and metro takes you where you need to go. There’s two metro stations very close to the IT University called DR Byen and Islands Brygge.
