50 Years With IT - From Technical Perfection to IT Products
How has IT changed over the last 50 Years? Join Provost Jørgen Staunstrup and Professor Søren Lauesen for the second round of OpenITU - this time with a historical perspective on the development of IT over the last half century.
50 years of changing IT-technologies will be described, taking us from computers filling a whole room to mobile and wearable devices. What has changed? At the surface a lot, not least with respect to the commercial impact of IT, but some challenges have remained with us e.g. handling the ever increasing complexity of software. We will illustrate with a few examples of technology and technology failures from the past 50 years. Søren and Jørgen will share some of their personal stories and illustrate what has surprised, disappointed and excited them since the infancy of computing.
The event is hosted by Anders Høeg Nissen of Harddisken DR P1.
OpenITU is a new initiative by the IT University of Copenhagen opening the university to the public, with topics in ICT publicly debated over a Friday afternoon beer. OpenITU aims to create a relaxed platform where researchers and audience are on equal footing and conversations on ICT topics can be easily followed. It takes place once a month on a Friday at 4pm.
All OpenITU events are free of charge and open to the public.
